Over at THE ORIGINAL REEL HORROR we are ready to finalize our Best of 2003 horror tournament. The final combatants?
HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES!

Rob Zombie's iconic debut featuring the first appearance of Otis Driftwood, Baby Firefly and Captain Spaulding. Brutal and funny, it has stood the test of time and lead to Zombie's masterpiece sequel.
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE!

Not only one of the best horror remake's of all time, eclipsing the grainy original but one of the best horror films in the last 25 years. Sure Jessica Biel is hot but she is also a great actor who oozed equal amounts of fear and fight back. This film also featured the best incarnation of Leatherface and R. Lee Ermey to boot!

But which one is better...
Hmmmm....?
My take is this:
I love both films, but I think TCM just nailed everything from suspense to acting to re-imagining a true horror icon. It is one of the best horror films I've seen and one of the few I've ever given 5/5 stars to. If you haven't seen it you simply must.
Ironically one of the only other films I've given 5/5 to is DEVILS REJECTS. House was great but it WAS a big loud, crazy slab of horror and comedy that while great in many ways was still a tad disjointed. It was a tremendous debut for Zombie and it earned it's 4/5 grade. If you agree that Devil's was better, than this one should not even be in contention. That said, I would definitely put it up against many other so called greats.

Who deserves your vote? All I am asking is that you think about it, really think.
Last of all....GO JESSICA!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!
