SEVEN IN HEAVEN (2018) mini review

This movie is a trip! Two teens (Jude and June} at a party playing the game "7 in heaven" find themselves having to spend seven minutes in a closet together. When the attempt to rejoin the party things are...well, different. Did they go through a timewarp, another dimension? Finding out is most of the fun but, is it a good film? Overall yes, here's why:

Flow. The story flows at a crisp pace and never becomes mundane. Once a Pandora's box is opened a new one follows suit until the questions begin to pile up. Lot's to figure out here, my advice is to just roll with it and think about it after.

Acting/Characters: The two leads (Travis Tope and Haley Ramm) fair well but honestly most of the cast is functional to funny and the production isn't bad either.

Concept: The idea that Jude and June are stumbling between dimensions or realms, possibly several combined with the mysterious girly playing card and the enigmatic school counselor, Mr. Wallace (Gary Cole) who seems to know much about their predicament lends a sci fi feel to the mix and really makes for good entertainment.

On the downside, the occasional paradox and thin indie skin may seem like a dip, but not enough to bring down the affair. The ending is satisfying and frustrating at the same time and will have you thinking and talking about it for days after. The last movie the wife and me discussed this much after viewing was TRIANGLE with Melissa George. Go for it!

3.5/5
