Crawl, Daniel isn't real, Itsy Bitsy, Freaks and more mini reviews than you can shake an axe at!

More mini reviews than you can shake a stick at. Agree or not, feedback is always welcomed. What did YOU think of these movies? Let me know. And here....we go!!!

Crawl (2019)

When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.

I love a good creature feature but this ain't it! Bad CGI and just plain stupid moments hamper this almost good Alligator flick. The Alligators in this movie are not smart at all, swimming right past their prey. What's worse is the setting becomes stagnant, tedious, repetitive and boring. There are some decent moments but considering the filmmakers involved this is a huge letdown. Alexandre Aja and Sam Raimi have no excuse for this b-feel mess. Approach with caution.

2.5/5

Itsy Bitsy (2019)

In Itsy Bitsy, Kara, a private nurse and single mother, moves from the big city to the quiet countryside with her two children, 13-year-old Jesse and 8-year-old Cambria, to live with and take care of an elderly man with multiple sclerosis. Things seem normal enough until Jesse discovers a mysterious old relic in the old man's house, leading to unexpected and horrifying things coming to life.

Who would have thought a killer spider movie would be this listless and mundane? Well, it is. For a much better time check out Eight Legged Freaks or Big ass spider.

2/5 stars

Daniel Isn't Real (2019)

Troubled college freshman Luke (Robbins) suffers a violent family trauma and resurrects his childhood imaginary friend Daniel (Schwarzenegger) to help him cope. Charismatic and full of manic energy, Daniel helps Luke to achieve his dreams, before pushing him to the very edge of sanity and into a desperate struggle for control of his mind -- and his soul.

The only thing lacking here is the acting which is subpar at best. Other than that strap in for a wild, original ride in this tale of an imaginary friend returning to adulthood and raising serious havoc! Some graphic scenes help propel this film while the smart script allows for immersion. Check it out!

3.5/5

Freaks (2019)

Kept locked inside the house by her father, 7-year-old Chloe lives in fear and fascination of the outside world, where Abnormals create a constant threat - or so she believes. When a mysterious stranger offers her a glimpse of what's really happening outside, Chloe soon finds that while the truth isn't so simple, the danger is very real.

Now we're talking! This very cool horror with a sci fi slant is engrossing and original and very much reminded me of STEPHANIE. Great cast support from Bruce Dern and Emile Hirsch (Doing his best Jack Black) adds to the festivities. The low budget actually works in the movie's favor, giving it a classic feel. Very entertaining!

4/5

The Fanatic (2019)

After Moose (John Travolta) gets cheated out of meeting his hero, Hunter Dunbar (Devon Sawa), he turns to stalking to get the celebrity interaction he feels he deserves. Harmless at first, Moose's actions begin to take a dark turn. Against the advice of his friend Leah (Ana Golja), Moose begins to make frequent visits to his hero's private home. As the visits continue to escalate, Dunbar find himself in increasing danger.

Despite being an unconvincing crazed fan film, Travolta turns in a surprisingly effective performance that makes this one worth watching. Trust me you've never seen him like this. I was entertained by Revolting John who levitated this mid level flick.

3/5

3022 (2019)

A group of astronauts living in the haunting emptiness of deep space awake to find earth has suffered an extinction level event.

A few good moments do not excuse this boring affair in which nothing really happens and the tropes are flying in at all angles. Miranda Cosgrove is a nice trinket but other than Icarley in space...this one's full of dead air!

2.5/5

Satanic Panic (2019)

A pizza delivery girl at the end of her financial rope has to fight for her life - and her tips - when her last order of the night turns out to be high society Satanists in need of a virgin sacrifice.

Horror comedy abounds in this imperfect but fun satanic tale. Not all the bits work and the budget constraints show but I was truly entertained by this one. If you want some fun, tongue in cheek, not too serious horror check this one out.
